| DEVON YESBERGER |
Devon Yesberger,
an 18-year-old jazz pianist and songwriter, has just finished his first year of study at Berklee College of Music in Boston
with a full tuition scholarship. He grew up outside of Seattle and learned piano from his mom and dad until starting jazz
piano lessons in 8th grade. During high school, Devon was a finalist for the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensemble
and a participant in All-Northwest Jazz Program from his sophomore year on. He was also involved in the all expenses paid
Berklee Summer Jazz Workshop in 2008, as well as being a youngArts honorable mention in 2009 and 2010. Although jazz is and
will always be a primary focus, Devon’s extra pursuits as a singer-songwriter integrate original material with a strong
jazz foundation, creating a unique blend of pop and jazz appeal. Devon plans on continuing his writing and seeking new opportunities
to perform, record and play as much as possible and is delighted to have been featured at the Great Basin Jazz Camp 2010 and
returns for Jazz Camp 2011!

| DORIS DOYON |
Doris Doyon is a Tacoma, WA native. In addition to being a music educator, she is a freelance classical percussionist,
jazz drummer and accompanist. She has taught middle school through college age bands and musicians in Washington, Missouri
and Nevada. She is excited to be associated with the Great Basin Jazz Camp in our home at the College of Southern Idaho. Currently,
she is Director of Bands at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. At the Great Basin Jazz Camp, she will work with
the percussionists and rehearse trios and small groups and conduct one of two theory classes.

Wayne Bliss, String and Electric BassWayne has been a very active bassist in the Pacific Northwest
for over 20 years playing with Northwest notables such as Don Lanphere, Jay Thomas, Jon Pugh, and Gretta Metassa. He’s
also worked with legendary performers such as The Four Tops, The Temptations, Bill Watrous, Rosemary Clooney, The Captain
and Tennille and Doc Severinson just to name a few. Wayne
graduated from Central Washington University with a B.A. in Music Education and taught band for 14 years in the Federal Way
School District and taught vocal jazz for 4 years at Pacific Lutheran University, in Tacoma, WA. Over the years, his ensembles
took 1st place at the Clackamas
Community College Jazz Festival, the Auburn Jazz Festival, and the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. In addition to teaching,
Wayne is an in demand guest clinician and adjudicator at jazz festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest. Wayne will also
direct one of two Big Bands at Camp in 2011.

DAVID
BODE
David Bode is a saxophonist, composer, and vocalist from New Orleans, LA. He performed
his first professional concert at age 16 and has not stopped since, appearing at notable clubs around New Orleans including
Tipitina’s, the Howlin’ Wolf, and more. He has also performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
David graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans with a degree in Music Education.
He obtained his Master’s of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans. After UNO, he moved to Beijing,
China for 10 months where he taught English, studied Chinese, and continued to play music.
David leads many ensembles including the funk band, Bodesattva, the Fractal Saxophone Quartet, and
various jazz ensembles ranging from trios to octets. David also performs with the Voodoo Funk and Soul Company, the New Leviathan
Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra, the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans, and the New Orleans Opera Association, among others.
David has produced one full length album, Arrival, by Bodesattva, and also co-produced
the Christmas album Fig and the New Tones Present: Pine Cone Classics. David is currently in pre-production for his
next album by the David Bode Sextet which will be released in July.
In addition to
his performance and recording experience, David has written music for a wide variety of ensembles ranging from small jazz
combo to chorus to full orchestra.

We are pleased and delighted to welcome back for this 3rd year - Tom Goicoechea for 2011. Tom graduated
with a Bachelor of Music degree from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2007. Mr. Goicoechea graduated Magna Cum Laude with
University Honors, as well. He also was named the #1 Big Band drummer at Loyola 3 years in a row. His group, Bodesattva has drawn rave reviews with the release of their CD Arrival,
a compilation of music incorporating elements of jazz, funk, R&B, New Orleans and Salsa. The group steadily performs at
many venues in New Orleans and their CD is consistently played on two New Orleans radio stations. Tom remains..first and foremost..
a jazz drummer, capable of performing many different and current styles. Percussionists and drummers will gain invaluable
insight and develop new skills under the direction of Mr. Goicoechea at the 2011 Great Basin Jazz Camp. Sign up early to study,

RETURNING FACULTY FOR 2011 INCLUDE: DAVID JOYNER, LEAD INSTRUCTOR
David Joyner is Associate
Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. From 1986 to 2000, he
was an Associate Professor on the faculty of the renowned Jazz Studies division at the University of North Texas in Denton.
Dr. Joyner holds a BM and PhD from the University of Memphis, and an MM from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music.
We are delighted that David Joyner can rejoin us for the 5th Annual Great Basin Jazz Camp. He was our 'fearless leader' in 2008 2009 and 2010 and worked
tirelessly with everyone to bring us the best Camp we ever had. It's going to be GREAT in 2011. Don't miss it!

degree: M.M. in Jazz Studies from Wayne State University.
Currently
employed with the NATO Orchestra in Brussels, Belgium.
Composed
"The Grinning King" and "Bang Spot" currently available on www.sibeliusmusic.com, the former of which is a favorite of the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra. Notable
performance credits include playing 2nd trombone (and being staff arranger) for the Rhythm Society Orchestra for
6 years (since it's founding until I joined the Army); being Principal Trombone with the Macomb Symphony for half a season
(then entering the Army); performing with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra at the International Association of Jazz Educators
Convention in Toronto in 2001.

| CAMDEN HUGHES |
Camden
Hughes is a jazz multi-instrumentalist and music teacher from Nampa. A graduate of Northwest Nazarene University, he
taught music at North Star Charter School in Eagle. He also taught jazz at NNU, where he led weekly jam
sessions, instructed private lessons, and supervised jazz combos. Hughes plays piano professionally around the Boise
area. He could be seen playing piano and guitar weekly at Flatbread Community Oven every Wednesday night with jazz vocalist
Brianne Gray, and at Berryhill once or twice a month. He is now in Kansas City looking for new musical horizons to conquer.
Hughes has performed with a number
of artists, including trombone legend Bill Watrous, the great tenor player Pete Christlieb, and Idaho's own Brent
Jensen, Sandon Mayhew, Gayle Chapman, Emily Braden, and Jon Klein.
In high school, Hughes won the Oustanding Trombone
Soloist award at the Gene Harris Jazz Festival two years in a row. In college, Hughes switched his focus to the piano,
but his talents extend to other instruments. A true multi-instrumentalist, Hughes has been known to perform on the bass
trumpet, electric bass, trombone, drums, trumpet, and vocals, as well as the piano and guitar.
MICHAEL “MIKE” ALLEN Executive Director The creator
of the Great Basin Jazz Camp, Mike Allen has been involved in the promotion of High School Music programs since the late 1960’s,
where he worked with the late Bob Soder in the creation of the Bay Area Honor Band Concerts. A retired Broadcast Journalist,
Mr. Allen has worked tirelessly in promoting High School Music Programs in California, Nevada, and Michigan during his lifetime.
He formulated a Concert in May, 2006 with trombonist Bill Watrous with the Spring Creek, Nevada High School Jazz Band in May,
2006. Mr. Allen is also
a Big Band Jazz Historian, and is in the final stages of a book on the late Bandleader, tenor saxophonist and arranger Sam
Donahue. He has also contributed articles to several jazz publications and has lectured on Big Bands at Macomb Community College
(Michigan), and Sacramento State College, among others. The Great Basin Jazz Camp was created with the intention of giving students hands-on instruction
by great teachers, says Allen. I have been truly fortunate to have on our Faculty men and women dedicated to working with
young people in the art of jazz and its performance.

to translate it to young musicians…”
